Spring brought some great news: we are preparing another shipment since our wines are selling faster than expected. This is a nice problem to have for a start-up that has been in the market for less than a year. We are so fortunate to have you as clients. We are constantly learning and have signed with a new shipping company to help with the logistics and reduce unnecessary complexity by leveraging the Baltimore port.
In addition to reorders, we are adding some new labels, including some exceptional Bardolino and Garganega from a new Veneto producer, Alessio Bigagnoli of Bigagnoli Wines. We can’t wait to broaden our portfolio, especially while we consider expanding to other states.
On the selling front, we are enjoying meeting so many curious wine drinkers around Maryland and DC who are excited to hear our stories while sampling the wines. There are times when we wonder if this is a real job since we are having so much fun!
After six weeks in the US, Marco is back in Italy where he will spend the summer traveling and tasting wines, as we look to add some wineries in Italian regions we do not yet represent. He will be back in September to help Cristina with sales and events.
Lastly, we had a big birthday celebration when Doria Wines turned one in June.
It is hard to believe it was only a year ago when we welcomed our first two pallets in the Maryland warehouse and were finally able to pick up some samples to bring around to potential customers. What a long way we have come! A heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped us getting where we are today, first and foremost to our customers who believed in carrying wines made with unfamiliar grape varieties by producers who had never exported to the U.S. before. It is humbling to be complimented for our unique portfolio and excellent wines.
