Who we are

The Doria Wines Philosophy

Italy has countless excellent wines, but a lot fewer that fit all the criteria we set out to follow: native grape varieties, sustainable and responsible farming, small-scale production, and minimum intervention. We also look for winemakers who are personally involved in all aspects of the process: from working in the vineyards to harvesting, handling all cellar operations, marketing, and distributing the final product interacting directly with end customers. They are passionate about their work and are committed to making wines that reflect the terroir.

In the beginning

Marco and Cristina Doria decided in December 2020 to go into business together and start a wine importing company.

We were overwhelmed with excitement and could not wait to get started. Business ideas were discussed, and the emotions of reconnecting through something we were passionate about after living in two different continents for decades were thrilling.

Reality sinks in

After working in the financial world all our adult lives, we figured entrepreneurship, especially in the wine business, was going to be a relief and so much fun! Pretty much right away, though, reality sank in and it became clear we had a lot to learn and do before we could even get to taste any wines.

Inspired by Memories

It was the memories of growing up together in Italy surrounded by family, friends, food, and wine that helped us to keep going and believe in our dream: to share our experiences with others through the wines we import to the United States.

Finally in Business

The excitement we felt when the wine at last arrived in Maryland was indescribable. Our efforts had finally paid off and we were in business after all.

So Where can I purchase your wine?

As an importer we are not allowed to sell directly to consumers. Instead, we connect Italian producers to American distribution channels: retailers and restaurants interested in carrying our wines. Look for our logo on bottles’ back labels to find unknown wines and wineries of exceptional quality and extraordinary authenticity. Do not forget about the limited production: once the wine is gone, there is nothing left even if you went to Italy. They are THAT special!

Currently, we are only licensed to do business in Maryland and Washington DC, but we hope to expand to other states in the future.
