Corrado Meinardi
Corrado’s winery embodies the traditions of the Langhe wine region where families have been making wine forever. This includes respecting nature by taking advantage of naturally formed microsystems and microclimates present in the vineyards. He started making wine on his own in 1993 and currently produces about 24,000 bottles (~2,000 cases) per year of some of the most well-known Piemonte varietals: Barbera, Barbaresco, Dolcetto, and Nebbiolo. He owns 4 hectares (~10 acres) of vineyards, mostly located on the top of the highest hill of Barbaresco, the ideal place to grow one of Italy’s most prestigious grape varieties, Nebbiolo. Walking into his tasting room is like entering a friend’s cozy kitchen: a table, some chairs, a wood stove, and a cupboard. When you sit down, after Corrado has poured some wine and put out some grissini and salame, he starts telling the story of how he learned to make wine from his grandfather, Pierin. Since his family has lived in the small town for generations where his father was mayor for ten years, there are lots of stories to tell (and a lot of wine to drink).
