De Fattore
The small Valsugana winery was born completely from scratch in 2016 when two brothers, Alessio and Simone De Fattore, started to make wine choosing to utilize exclusively terracotta amphoras for the vinification. They were the first winemakers to produce amphora wines in the area, and their commitment to the vessels is evident by the recurring motif on the labels. Even though climate and geography make this Trentino valley a challenging area for viticulture, it is a historic region for the cultivation of vines which only recently has become notable from an oenological perspective. Simone makes about 6,000 bottles (500 cases) focusing on the recovery of Pavana, an ancient and almost extinct grape variety, and experimenting with varieties resistant to the main vine diseases. The proximity to the Veneto region has led him to acquire additional land in the Bassano del Grappa area bringing the total vineyards’ size to 2 hectares (~5 acres).
