Pierfabio Mastronardi
At the age of 30, after agricultural school and about ten years of work experience in other wineries, Pierfabio Mastronardi decided in 2017 that the time has come to try to start his own business. He started by renting two plots of land outside Bari very far from each other and with very distinctive soil and microclimate. His idea was to give authentic flavors to his wines without the need to conform to the market, as demonstrated by the very unusual style of Primitivo he makes. He now owns 4 hectares (~10 acres) of vineyards of Primitivo, Aleatico, Susumaniello, Verdeca, Bianco d’Alessano, Maresco, Marchione, and Falanghina and produces five different labels spread across 12,000 bottles per year. Pierfabio’s wines express Puglia in its entirety: sincere wines that tell the morphological complexities of the territory in which they are born, characterized by acidity and flavor. Pierfabio combines tradition and desire to Always improve production techniques, as symbolized by the choice to use Clayver ceramic barrels for aging the wine.
